Likak Research - Doc 6 2

Dear community,

Dear reader,

Just a wink today, to all those brave women (and men 😉) who built their company, particularly those who succeeded in doing that in our industry: clinical trials.

Becoming an entrepreneur in our settings and one in this particular niche called clinical trials is a real challenge. Allow me here to sincerely congratulate those successful women!! I can not name them all, but please help me quote them in the comments: Margaret Williams, Roseanne Onya, Lisa Collins, Nyeleti Bicky Mthombeni, …

When I think about my own path, it’s not been a sinecure 😊. When I started with the individual company in 2011, it took courage and abnegation. Women in entrepreneurship have more than one life 😊: boss, wife, mum, … Not to mention the others: friend, member, etc. And all these lives are 100% demanding. Being able to appropriately fulfill all those personalities is a balancing act! Bravo, women!

When I finished “establishing” the company and was able to run some contracts, I thought: “waw, Lisa, you did it!”. I forgot that Likak needed to grow and that growth of a small business is yet another ball game!

In fact, I discovered that we can be very good experts when we’re alone or very few in the company. When the staff size moved from 2 to 25 in less than 6 months, I understood the meaning of previously vague concepts such as “time bomb”, “defusing”, etc. I wonder if you’ve ever been in a situation where you are thrilled by the sensation, this is exactly where you wanted to go, but you are not sure the car is at the right speed.

I am so grateful for my understanding husband, the wonderful close friends who held my hand (and heart), believed in me (and continue to) and told me the truth whenever I needed to hear it.

Since 2021, I compared Likak to a (still small 😊) giant with feet of clay. We learned great lessons and still are. Toda more than ever, we are determined to move from clay to concrete! Africa expects us to be champions, and we run that race for nothing less!!

We keep pushing 😊!!

Lisa
