2024, from clay to concrete!
For LIKAK, 2023 was a year of growth on several fronts. As with any young company, it wasn’t an easy year. We celebrated, cried, welcomed new members, let others go, won, lost…! Through it all, we’ve retained what’s most important to us: this year has seen us evolve and become better known.
For the record, next April will mark 13 years since LIKAK began its activities. However, it was in 2021 that the company really scaled up.
In 2023, we took the time to define our vision for the next 10 years and put in place a plan to achieve our identified goals. We’re happy to say that 2023 enabled us to consolidate the growth achieved two years earlier.
Here are some of our highlights in 2023:
1. We had the opportunity to work on major projects. Customers have trusted us to manage their projects from start to finish: identifying sites, setting budgets, managing milestone payments and so on. This has enabled us to develop technically and extend our limits. We are particularly grateful to these partners for these opportunities.
2. One of our objectives in 2023 was to increase our footprint and visibility in Senegal, where our headquarters are located. We’re delighted to report a positive result on this front too. We took part in several major events in the country, often as the main organizer. The partnerships and friendships forged during these events augur well for the future. Together, we can make a real difference on the continent!
3. Another of our objectives was to popularize our profession, which is little known to the general public. Here again, the results are positive. The above-mentioned events enabled us to talk about our industry not only to healthcare professionals, but also to the general public. In addition, we had great fun attending a career fair at locally based schools. This enabled Likak to instill a love of medical research in the younger generation and to create – if at all possible – vocations. Likak has also taken on trainees to help them immerse themselves in our profession. We intend to continue these actions, insofar as we are allowed to do so.
4. Since 2021, we have witnessed the overall growth of our business, particularly in terms of human resources. Indeed, rapid growth in 2021 (from 2 people to around 28 in less than 8 months) had made us what we internally described as a small “giant with feet of clay”. We are now resolutely, ardently and proudly turning clay into concrete! Thanks to the determination of all our staff, whom Likak thanks warmly, we’ll get there!
5. At the start of this new year, we’re happy to say that “we’re still here”. Indeed, some of the challenges we faced in 2023 threatened our very existence. One such wave was the fact that we provided services for a customer who is now unable to pay us. This was a big blow given the sums involved, and we could well have gone out of business. So for us to still be here is a victory for which we are extremely grateful to God.
